Forze Hydrogen Electric Racing

The Forze racing team, consisting of students of the Dutch University of Delft, is currently developing the eighth generation of a racing car powered by fuel cells. The team was established 11 years ago to make a positive contribution to sustainability in the mobility industry and to promote future-oriented motorsports.
In 2017, the team took part in an official race for the first time, with its Forze VII model. Competing against petrol powered racing cars, the team was able to demonstrate that fuel cell technology is a true and reliable alternative to fossil fuels.
Unfortunately, they did not quite win the race yet. In order to further increase the racing car’s performance and to make it more competitive in races, a number of new features were added to the new fuel cell racing car Forze VIII.
Among these new features is the use of 700 bar components by WEH, which were provided to the team free of charge.

The WEH® Fueling Nozzle TK17 H2 70 MPa ENR in particular makes for a significant advantage in a race: fueling takes 2 to 3 minutes. User-friendliness is also an essential aspect in racing. This is why the WEH® TK17 H2 70 MPa ENR does not only resemble a petrol fueling nozzle in appearance, but it is also operated almost identically. This characteristic also contributes to better integration and acceptance of alternative fuels.
This means that hydrogen fueling is now truly competitive compared to conventional petrol and diesel vehicle fueling.
Fuel cell racing cars are expected to be unrivalled in the long run. Fast fueling is not the only major advantage. The performance of the Forze VIII, which accelerates from 0 to 100 in only 4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 km/h, speaks for itself.
